Feeling the Fear and Doing it Anyway

Fears hold you back from achieving your purpose in life. While fear may prevent you from doing something dangerous or ill advised, it also has the power to stagnate your existence. People often fear failure and this is deeply rooted in a sense of low self esteem or self doubt. No one can claim to be immune to fear but if you let fear stop you from pursuing your dreams, you will be doing a disservice to yourself. Perfection is overrated and the most successful people overcome their fears.

Fear is a natural feeling but it has to be dealt with. If you want to try something new, this means that you will be compelled to let go of something old. Letting go is a common source of fear because it indicates that the next step is unknown. Fearing the unknown is an indication of the inability to trust yourself enough to deal with situations regardless of their outcome. If you cannot trust yourself, who will you trust? This brings into question how much you value yourself and your attitude towards the realities of life.

To achieve success, you may have to feel the fear and do it anyway. This will require you to be confident enough to take on challenges that you are not 100% sure about. When you are consumed by fear, it is advisable to tackle the situation by carrying out small steps of faith. For example, if you are acutely afraid of speaking in a public domain, you can begin by interacting with small groups of people, which will boost your confidence. It is common for people to use fear as an excuse to remain in their comfort zone. The fear of failure or rejection prevents people from exploring their potential. As an individual, you need to tell yourself what you stand to gain if you accept a challenge.

People, who effectively overcome fear, treat the feeling as a passing cloud and go ahead with their plans. They realize that they have the power to move on from whatever consequences that may occur. Failing or facing rejection does not automatically spell doom for a person. There are valuable lessons that can be learned from both positive and negative experiences. Instead of focusing on the worst thing that could possibly happen, you should enjoy the task at hand and do your best to make it through. If you genuinely put your best effort into a project or relationship, this is success in itself.

Enjoy the present moment and avoid letting your mind wander into a future that you have limited control over. This is important because you will often let your fear of ‘what could be’ stop you in your tracks. Fear drags the mind into a negative state of dread of what is going to happen. Accept fear as a natural feeling that will vanish if you understand it and conquer it by doing what you fear. Reconsider the perceptions that you have about yourself. If you endeavor to treat yourself as a courageous and positive person, this attitude will be reflected in the way you choose to deal with fearful situations. Feel the fear and do it anyway. Change is on the way.

Dearest Janet

Thank you so very much, I only signed up with Wonderful Web Women yesterday
through a good friend of mine Ann Oliveri. It was just fabulous catching
the call this morning - I loved the fact that I could check out the webinar
online rather than the call this morning as I had my darling wee children
tearing around in the background demanding every item from the fridge.

Wow Ali was wonderful and you were fabulous Janet. you ladies are an
inspiration to a mother of 3 little ones living here on the Sunshine Coast
in Queensland . I am a proud kozzie..Kiwi / Ozzie . . . who has been
floundering for more than 5 years. Seriously suffered from information
overload. Having said this Ali was spot on when she said FOCUS FOCUS FOCUS
and one other vital thing . . . is ACTION!!! Focus is nothing without
ACTION. Well I have been playing with Hand Pouring my own candles now to
turn this into a serious viable business.

Love and Light
