I was lucky enough to interview Mary Pat Kavanagh as part of our regular teleseminar series. Here are a few interesting things about Mary Pat’s life I would like to share with you.
Mary Pat Kavanagh doesn’t consider herself a “born entrepreneur”. Her parents weren’t the entrepreneur-type, but when Mary Pat was in college she became an entrepreneur. She explains it happened because she didn’t feel like the traditional job setting was working for her, and once she graduated from college she knew that being an entrepreneur was the way she was going to go.
Like most business owners, Mary Pat experimented with a number of different businesses before she settled in the marketing realm. It made sense as her degree in college was also in marketing and she studied the marketing side of businesses. She is one of the few people who actually enjoy making cold calls and attempting to get sales!
When Mary Pat moved into the internet marketing world, she catapulted her business on a larger area because she wasn’t confined to a specific geographic location. She has been coaching clients and helping them build and market information products. She realized that she should be using some of the same techniques she teaches to her clients- particularly social media and Web 2.0 so that she can leverage her own relationships that she’s built along her journey.
Once she made this realization, Mary Pat launched a new product via joint ventures established through social media. Because of these joint ventures, the product launch was extremely successful. She was able to:
- increase the asking price of the product
- increase the volume of content included in the product
- expand the reach to more potential buyers because of the Joint Venture marketers involved in the launch
She is currently assisting other people to use the various forms of social media and to leverage Web 2.0 in their own businesses for successful joint ventures and marketing that may be a bit outside what they’re used to doing.
