I was lucky enough to interview Heidi Nabert as part of our regular teleseminar series. Here are a few interesting things about Heidi’s life I would like to share with you.
Heidi is a multi-talented individual who is both a podcaster and a graphic artist. Graphically, she recently contributed to the Wonderful Web Women’s first eBook, “The Law of Attraction in Action”, as the graphic artist and provided the cover design and interior layout of the book. As a podcaster, Heidi Nabert is well known throughout Canada as a national activist for reform for divorce and it’s effect on children. She and her partner have even spoken on the topic to Parliament, as well as on television and radio interviews.
For about 12 years, Heidi and her partner have run a bricks and mortar business in Canada that works with dads who are going through a divorce. Their main goal is to keep the dad’s involved and active in their children’s lives. They faced challenges getting people to see and trust their creditability at times.
About two years ago, Heidi and her partner visited a conference in Toronto where they learned about podcasting. Within a month of the conference, they had launched their first podcast that they called “DadCast”. It was going to follow along the same lines as their bricks and mortar business; and assist dads who were going through a divorce or separation. Podcasting took their business to a whole new level, and suddenly they had calls coming in from all around the world. One thing that amazed Heidi was how the podcast had somehow already established the credibility of the business, and the people who were calling were ready to enlist the services and buy the products that they offered.
Currently, Heidi is the co-host of several popular podcasts, including Dadcast, Divorced Dad Minute, and is the host and producer of BooBooGone.com; which is a podcast for parents to help protect their children from sexual predators. She also is the co-host of a weekly teleseminar for dads, called Divorced Dad Weekly. While the topics of her various projects are all along the same lines, she is diversified in the target market she reaches with each of the podcasts and programs offered; and therefore has discovered the need for creating podcasts of varying lengths. Some podcasts are under 5 minutes long, others are around 20 minutes in length, while some are an average of an hour long.
Heidi offers a course for people who would like to break into the podcasting industry – either to make podcasting their career or to use podcasting as a method of promoting another business.
