This week we interview…me!! 

I had quite a few people I could ask to interview me as part of our Wonderful Web Women series. Friends, colleagues, even our featured speakers were the obvious choice. But then I thought “Wonderful Web Women is all about mentorship and helping each other get ahead - why not offer this opportunity to one of our gold members?”

What a great call with Rosalind Gardner today. Ros is an absolute legend at affiliate marketing. If you’re not sure what affiliate marketing is, it is basically being rewarded for recommending a product to people you know. That’s it in the most basic form.

The skill is in 3 things:

1. knowing which products to promote
2. getting enough people to your website to see your recommendations
3. developing a relationship and trust with the people who do visit your site

I must admit I felt an incredible sense of relief and calm after talking to Ros. Her big message was to keep it simple and build on what women do best - build relationships. She concentrates on 2 methods to get traffic:

1. Pay Per Click Adwords (Google Adwords, Yahoo and MSN)
2. Blogging

Of course, there are tricks to this and Ros covers this in detail in her book. I have a few resources to get you started on mastering both of these skills:

Here is a bit of shameless self promotion. I’m really good at Google Adwords but I don’t really enjoy doing it. I got tired of people asking me (even though they paid me) to set up Google Adwords campaigns for them so I created a step-by-step home study course that even someone totally new to the concept could pick up and master quickly.

Well I have some good news and some bad news. Which would you like to hear first? The bad news eh?

THE BAD NEWS

Our guest speaker for this week, Lorrie Morgan-Ferrero is very sick. That is why we delayed our regular interview call for 1 day. We were hoping she would be better if she had an extra day to recuperate.

But unfortunately, she is too sick to take part in our interview this week and has had to postpone to later this year. I know she is very disappointed, even embarrassed as she didn’t want to let us down. But this is bound to happen occasionally - even Wonderful Web Women are human. I’m pleased she took up my offer to postpone rather than soldier on and make herself sicker. Nothing is more important than our health.
