No, not the birth of a baby but I do expect it will grow as quickly and develop it’s own character just like a child. Today we announce the birth of The Wonderful Web Forum.

Membership at the moment is free to call members of Wonderful Web Women. As it grows we will be introducing “sealed sections” just for our gold members to receive extra attention but there will always be a growing community there.

Go to http://www.WonderfulWebForum.com and introduce yourself – there are already a few people there. I will also be posting a question there this week where I hope members will be able to give me some advice on a decision I need to make. It is a question I know many of us will have as our businesses grow.

Cheers

How to negotiate to build your online business – without breaking the bank

I really enjoyed our call today with Sharon Tieman. Sharon shared with us invaluable information on how to grow your business on-line without breaking the bank.

Sharon is an amazing negotiator and she generously shared some excellent skills to help us negotiate with web developers, customers and joint venture partners. Sharon has been a good friend of mine for many years and I have seen her negotiate the most amazing deals – and always come out with both parties smiling. It is a skill I aim to develop. As Sharon says “You don’t get in life what you deserve, you get what you negotiate”.

Sharon shared with us how she expanded her existing business on-line instead of opening a 3rd shop (her business can be found at http://www.catererswharehouse.com.au ) – and how the website paid for itself within 12 months. A big part of this success was due to her negotiation skills.

ACE  – Sharon’s system for negotiation

The 3 rules Sharon negotiates by are :

A – Ask. 90% of the deals are made simply because you ask. Below I share a couple of lines that Sharon uses to ask for a deal – especially when you are negotiating by email.

C – Be Courteous. This is probably what sets Sharon apart from most people who teach negotiation. You attract more bees with honey becasue you really want to be able to go back and deal with that person again.

E – Explain a reason. Sharon gave some great examples on the call of explainations you can give to justify asking for a deal

 A few choice Lines

  • “is that the best deal you can do today?” (on the call she shares an important technique you must do to follow this up if this line is going to work)
  • “The numbers aren’t working for me. What can you do?” (great line to use in an email)
  •  ”I have a budget of $XXXX – what can you do to help me fit in that budget?”

Sharon’s 3 Power Cards

Sharon shared the 3 types of power people bring to a negotiation and shared some really good ideas on how to negotiate Joint Ventrues with people who have a list that you want to help promote your growing business.

The main cards are:

1. The person with the most emotion – has the least power

2. The person with the least time – has the least power

3. The person with the most information – has the most power

Of course this is just the tip of the iceberg. Sharon shared great examples on the call. And from a woman who has grown her businesses from a run-down wharehouse to a multi-million dollar business in just a few years – I tend to listen.

Hey, I’ve negotiated with Sharon on your behalf

Sharon has created an intensive package that covers how to negotiate in all different situations – and what to do when things go bad. She shared on the call how she has even negotiated speeding tickets – try that. And hey, I have negotiated with Sharon to save you an amazing $100 off the cost of her pack and she has thrown in hundreds of dollars of bonuses as well. (I’m learning). You can see here offer here: http://www.wonderfulwebwomen.com/recommends/sharon

Not announced on the call (we negotiated this later) -

the first 20 people who purchase Sharon’s pack will also receive a CD where Sharon details how she took her business online, how she grew it so fast, and some serious mistakes she made on the way.

I’d love to hear any experiences you have with negotiation or lessons you have learnt from Sharon. Please leave a comment and let us know what you think.

 Cheers Janet

P.S. If you couldn’t make it to the live call, the recording of both the interview and the mastermind call is already available and the transcript within the week. This is a bonus for gold members. If you aren’t a gold member yet, Why not? It costs less than a pizza each week or a couple of cups of coffee! Just log in, click to download the audio of today’s call and you will be prompted to upgrade your membership. Just follow the steps.

Say no and mean it with Sandi Givens

I was really looking forward to our call today with Sandi Givens. Sandi is the first of our five winners of the “Gold member Opportunity  – Instant Product Creation Competition”. It was an excellent call and we were very lucky to have this opportunity to learn from Sandi’s experience as she speaks internationally on her passion which is to empower people, especially women, to Shatter the Glass Ceilings and live the life they want.

Today Sandi talked about assertiveness, or what she refers to as Self-Assured Personal Expression. She had some great insights on the differences between assertiveness, submissiveness and aggression. I especially liked her rejection of the traditional ways we look at this and her much clearer way of looking at the way we respond to situations.

Sandi talked about situations where we are “other centred” or “self centred” and it is amazing how clear this makes it to decide how you will react when you are put in a position where you feel pressured to say Yes when what you really want to say is No. And you know what is a really nice off-shoot of this. It is so much easier to decide what is important, where your priorities are clear on how to create “balance”.

Why this is so important

Of course, this is only a fraction of what Sandi talked about. You can listen to the recording in the Gold member’s area later today. I can’t stress enough the importance of listening and applying a lot of what Sandi has taught. Every single successful woman I have interviewed so far has stressed that the most important thing they did was sort out their own thoughts, values and sort out any emotional baggage they are carrying. This is essential before you can move forward.

In fact I share a story on the call about a situation I faced that forced me to make big changes in my life. Changes that Sandi gives such great direction on in her book “Women on the Move”. I would not be enjoing such a wonderful life now if I had not gone through that process and I encourage you to do the same.

Some Great Strategies from Sandi

Sandi gave some excellent strategies for developing assertiveness. You can hear them all on the recording but I want to share one with you that I intend to implement this week. You can hold me accountable.

Sandi suggested buying a beautiful note book and call it your “Victory Journal”. In this book you write each day (for a start anyway) a bullet list of things you did well that day. They don’t have to be huge, though of course the really big ones go on there. Even things like “I met a deadline” or “communicated with a cranky person without losing my temper” or “wrote down potential topics for my ebook”. You use this book to look back on when you are frustrated with yourself, having a bad day ect. We don’t celebrate our wins near enough do we? The nice thing about this book is it isn’t about what other people have said about you – it is about what you have said about yourself. I didn’t realise the impotance of this until Sandi’s talk. So that’s my commitment. I’ll start a “Victory Journal” and I’ll let you know how it goes.

I’d love to hear your feedback and any ideas you have applied from Sandi’s call today. Sandi has also made a wonderful offer for our members and I do recommend you get it. I have been reading her book and it is excellent. You can see it here: http://www.wonderfulwebwomen.com/recommends/sandi2

What an excellent call with Kristi Sayles today. Kristi shared some great information today about how to use articles to position yourself as an expert and drive free traffic to your site. Kristi combines some great talents. She is a passionate writer, but also a teacher to 7 and 8 year olds. Combine that together and you have a person who is excellent at breaking down into easily understood steps, everything you need to know about writing articles and how to use them to market.

Kristi has also used these skills to create step-by-step software to guide you through writing articles that will be accepted by the major article submission sites and has bundles this together with an amazing 7 bonuses, including copywriting software and also software to automatically submit your articles to over 100 directories. You can check out the very generous offer she has made for Wonderful Web Women members here: http://www.wonderfulwebwomen.com/recommends/kristi

Key Ideas From The Call Today

All of the key ideas will be summarised in the Big Idea Cheat Sheet and Action Plans that will be in the Gold Members area in about a week. But here are few to get you thinking – and a challenge as well!

5 Must-Do’s For A Great Article

  1. You need a great headline. Make sure you put your main keywords in the first 4 words of the headline
  2. Include a great introduction and make sure you use your keywords here
  3. Use 1 subheading for every point you make
  4. Keep it short (“brevity is golden”),
    • 250 to 750 words is all you need
    • use bullet points
    • use short sentences
  5. Your resource box is the most important part of the article. You must include a call to action and a link to your site so readers will visit your site and join your mailing list

Of course, this is only touching the tip of the iceberg. Kristi also covered the essential points you must have in your resource box, where to submit your articles to get seen high on Google, mistakes you absolutley must not do, when to use links and when never to use links. You can listen to the recordings today in the Teleseminars and audios section of the gold members area and read the transcript and summaries by next week.

An Article Challenge

Kristi mentioned that once you have 10 articles accepted to www.ezinearticles.com you are graded as an expert. Following her advice today I don’t think that will be too hard to do – you just have to take action. So here’s my challenge to you. I intend to have 10 articles accepted to ezine articles by the end of the month and be classed as an expert writer. I’ll let you know on the blog here how I am progressing.

So I challenge you to do the same. 10, 250 word articles on your area of expertise by the end of the month! Go on, I dare you! Let us know how you are going.

Cheers
