What have you got to celebrate?

Hi

I do hope that you have had a beautiful Christmas and are still in holiday mode. It’s funny how after the crazy rush of Christmas one of the first things we do is start setting big goals for the next year in the guise of New Year’s Resolutions. STOP! Don’t do it yet.

Let me share with you a story of an activity I did with my family this week. I hope I inspire you to do the same.

Questions at the table

Christmas with my in-laws is your typical Christmas get together of a large family as there are often people at the extended table that I only see once or twice a year. Nieces, nephews and cousins whose lives I really know very little of.

We played a game this year where we went around the table, each person in turn sharing one thing that was the absolute highlight of 2007 and one thing that they are looking forward to in 2008. Only one thing. I learnt so much about my family in the short time it took to play this game because we could choose only one thing and it had to be positive. There was a real feeling of celebration as people shared highlights as diverse as learning the piano to starting a new business to retiring. This got me thinking about all the different things our little family has achieved in the last 12 months.

What do you have to celebrate?

How often do you sit down and really think about all you have achieved in the last 12 months? Importantly, how often do you congratulate yourself and take the time to celebrate?

This week take the time to do the following activity. Our family of 4 did this and it was an incredibly affirming thing to do and share. It is all about celebrating what you have achieved before you start on your 2008 to-do list.

Art paper, crayons and pencils.

You are going to create a celebration board to keep as a reminder of how wonderful you are when you feel that you are standing still. It is not enough to simply write a list with lined paper and a pen. That is not a celebration.

We used a large A3 piece of art paper and the whole family took part. Choose whatever is at hand but make sure it is special. Make sure you have lots of coloured pencils and crayons on hand. You can even use photos if you are organised enough to have them on hand.

Symbols and thought bubbles

Draw symbols for each person and / or major focus for the year. You don’t have to be a great artist. For example we just drew love hearts with each of our names in them. Wonderful Web Women has been a major focus for us this year so we drew our logo in crayon on the art paper.

Spread the focus symbols around the paper because now you are going to draw thought bubbles and arrows around each focus symbol – the same way you would draw a mind map.

Working backwards from December, think of all the things you have achieved and learnt in the last year. Create a different coloured thought bubble for each achievement and attach it to your focus symbol with an arrow. You’ll be surprised how quickly the page gets crowded.

But I Can’t Think Of Anything

If you have trouble finding something to write, here is one to start you off. Simply by reading this means you have taken action. Celebrate that you have taken the initiative to join a community of entrepreneurial women who are here to help you create success on the internet. Even if you haven’t got a website yet, you have taken a step toward success that the majority of people you know will not have done.

Share your success

We all felt so positive when we looked at our completed art paper that we have decided to laminate it and call it a Celebration Board. I know I will refer back to this often next year in the times when I feel frustrated, as is inevitable.

If you do this activity, take the time to share your wins with others who care. US! Visit your forum at www.WonderfulWebForum.com and share what you discovered. Over the next week I’ll share with you some of the things we drew on our Celebration Board in the forum area for Balancing Business, Family and Lifestyle.

If you haven’t joined the forum yet, simply click on the register link at the top to sign up.

Next week I’ll share with you what a 73 year old ”Groover Gran” and a push bike have to do with achieving more in 2008.

Cheers

Janet

I was talking to Mike Filsaime on the phone this week about his new service Marketing Product Review. He revealed that Wonderful Web Women is the highest ranking product they have featured in this new service, and also the product with the largest number of votes and comments. This service allows the general public to review new products and we have no control over what is said. Comments can be negative or positive and the votes can be low or high.

At last count we had 67 comments and over 40 votes – way more than any other product featured. We have a ranking of 9.4 out of 10 and not a single negative comment. Thank you to all who voted and left your honest feed back. What a great community we have.

Mike suggested I copy the comments and leave them on our blog, so here they are:

Lance Scoular, The Savvy Navigator on 22 November, 2007 at 2: # Hi Ho Janet,Great to see a site like this. Whilst I am a bloke from Down Under (

Sydney, Australia) I have been presenting courses, seminars and workshops on Importing and Exporting for some seventeen years. I have seen the attendees change from a small percentage of women in the early 90’s to a stage where over the last 3 or 4 years, the average majority is now women. And the results that many women have achieved have been very creative. So I will be referring many of these students to check out your site and get some great information, inspiration and motivation.Regards and Godspeed,Lance Scoular

Stella Starwoman on 22 November, 2007 at 3:00 am # I met Janet at a conference last year and was very impressed by her no-nonsense approach to business. Her idea of interviewing top internet business women around the world and getting them to share their success stories for free is a wonderful way of building up a network of like-minded people and creating massive goodwill. I’ve listened to a couple of Janet’s teleseminars and learned a lot … in fact there’s almost too much info to take in! Highly recommended for beginners on the internet and more seasoned professionals.

Jenny Ford on 22 November, 2007 at # I love the way Janet transcribes everything and provides bullet points of the interview contents – saves me hours of wading through audios trying to find the key points.
She has really thought about how to provide her information in multiple formats to meet everyone’s needs – we try to do the same, and Janet is an inspiring role model.
And, best of all, it’s free to join!

Anita van Wallinga on 22 November, 2007 at # To be honest, I don’t like initiatives ‘just for women’. Are women a separate category? Do they need a special kind of attention in the Internet Market? But I must say that Janet has totally convinced me. She did attract successful female entrepreneurs, serious, and with a very special touch. Thank you, Janet.

Dawn Bournand on 22 November, 2007 at # Wondeful Web Women is simply a fantastic site! The members are active, motivated and ready to share. The founder, Janet, has a real passion for what she does and is an inspiration to all other internet entrepreneurs. She provides incredible value and asks for very little in return. It is obvious her goal is not just to make money but to truly help others succeed in creating their own business. I originally signed up for the free membership but quickly moved to Gold when I saw how much I was benefitting from my participation. That being said, if you haven’t signed up for the free membership, what are you waiting for? It’s free and offers more than many pay sites. My business is starting to take off thanks in part to my connection with Wonderful Web Women. Give it a try and see what it does for you. I’m sure you won’t regret it!

Alison on 22 November, 2007 at # Over the past few years I have attended courses and purchased a lot of information about how to succeed on the web. Most of it was a waste of time effort and money as it never gives you the real deal on what you need to know to succeed on the internet. Wonderful Web Women have provided interviews with some incredibly successful women who have been only too willing to tell us how they have succeeded. So if you are looking to learn the real deal, go no further as Wonderful Web Women provides everything you need to know and more, and it is free.

Deirdre on 22 November, 2007 at # Thank you Wonderful Web Women for all you do. I’ve been inspired many times to keep on working toward my goal.

So what better day than to express my gratitude to everyone who has taken the time to leave their comments and messages of support here.
Thanks to you all we will continue to build a dynamic community at Wonderful Web Women. That’s the beauty of the internet. What starts as one person’s membership site can quickly become a community that has a life and character of its own – and it’s fun!

Lisa Taliga on 22 November, 2007 at # A resounding 10 out of 10 for Janet and her Wonderful Web Women. Often people feel that they are somehow ‘lacking’ and get disheartened if they haven’t made $1,474,077 within 27 hours of starting their internet marketing journey. Join Janet’s site for inspiration, motivation, and a look at the ‘real’ potential of internet marketing. The potential is definitely there, but it’s just like a seed that needs nurturing. It’s not going to blossom overnight! Janet is passionate about what she does and gives honest, from-the-heart advice. As many above have said: this is a no-hype zone and all the better for it. There’s something for everyone – whether just starting out or further along the track. And unbelievable that it’s free.

Debbie Ducic on 23 November, 2007 at # Since my passion is helping women get over the fear or frustration of technology and multi media marketing to help them create more economic security and freedom for themselves and their families, it was not surprising that I found Janet and her Wonderful Web Women. What is surprising is that I’ve benefited so much from her efforts and the community that she’s built myself. She really has put together some GREAT information, an impressive group of women and some valuable products and services. I found a vendor I needed the very first teleseminar I attended. Some of the ideas she’s come up with to involve her members are brilliant! She has such an ease about her at making people feel welcome, you end up liking her right away. I give Janet and her membership website a 10 out of 10.I also recommend her website and teleseminars to my own GutZy Women.

MaryPat on 23 November, 2007 at # Janet,I think you have done an outstanding job at creating a membership site that is informative, easy-to-understand, motivational and engaging! I was finally able to create the time to listen to your webcast last week with the podcasting expert and learned a ton! But I especially love that, even when I don’t have the time to listen live, I can still get a great synopsis of the content, the offering and the opportunity to listen at my convenience. And I have to commend you for highlighting great experts who are knowledgeable and understandable. You are strategic in featuring the right content/experts for women building a successful business! Thanks!

Deborah Lee on 24 November, 2007 at # I don’t usually subscribe to membership sites. This is mostly because I haven’t been convinced that they will offer me what I need.I took Janet up on her OTO (something I don’t much either)and I have never regretted it.Women think and act differently than men and it has been wonderful to start approaching internet marketing from a different perspective. Many of the male IM events are like major sporting events – loud and adrenaline packed. There are quieter ones which tend to focus on “just the facts ma’am”. I don’t want to get pumped or given a spec list, I want to get things done, develop concepts, and see the big picture. What I have learned from Janet’s work is that the female approach is like a chamber music concert at an old country estate. Like music, it stimulates both the intellect and the feelings. It’s all so calm and rational. I don’t leave tired like I do with a lot of the men I’ve listened to. I get tired because of the pep rally factor or because they give me all of the facts but make no application or how it fits into real life.Men who think women have no power in internet marketing need to remember that Web 2.0 is women’s territory because women are more relational and Web 2.0 is all about relationships. The internet is changing and Janet Beckers is a pioneer. Deborah Lee

Audrey Martorana, VA/Web Producer on 25 November, 2007 at # Janet,I rate your site a 10! Janet Becker has her finger on the pulse of business women all over the world. Congratulations on your success!

Christmas is an expensive time of the year isn’t it? If you’re like me you’re torn between the ideal that Christmas is a time of loving and giving, so you should be feeling carefree and happy. The conflict is that it is also a crazy time of spending, list writing, more spending and a lot of stress.

Cash is the thing that is often on our minds at this time of the year and the internet is a place where you are meant to be able to make cash. Right? Well, actually this is right and the quickest and easiest way to do this is with affiliate marketing. With affiliate marketing you get paid just for recommending people visit a web site that you think is useful for them. You don’t have to sell anything and you don’t have to have your own product. In fact you don’t even need to have a website – email is all you need.

We make it easy for you to make money

If you can send out an email to friends, family, colleagues and customers – then you can make some easy money. Michelle Greene, our Wonderful Web Video Coach, has done it again. She has created another really useful instructional video for Gold members of Wonderful Web Women.

How to cloak an affiliate link

If you are interested in creating passive income on the internet, the easiest way to do that is through affiliate marketing. Affiliate programs work using personalised links that sometimes just scream “affiliate link – I’ll make money if you click on this”. A good way around this is to create a different url such as www.affiliatetopic.yourwebsite.com which forwards people to the affiliate site when they click on it. This is pretty easy to do if you know how. Michelle has created a video just for our gold members that takes you step by step the whole process from beginning to end.

How to thank Michelle

Michelle is one of those wonderful people who understands the concept – give first and you will eventually receive. She has been very generous to gold members with the videos she has created. Here is a way you can thank Michelle – and also get the chance to see her face and hear her voice. Michelle has entered a video competition to study withRich Shefren. You can see her very classy submition here and vote by clicking on the Dig It button at the bottom of the page. I wish her luck.
