A few hours ago I had the privilege of interviewing Melanie benson Strick - also known as “The Million Dollar Lifestyle and Business Coach”. Melanie’s clients enjoy an average growth rate of 172% within their first year while creating more time for living their dream lifestyle. With that kind of track record you can imagine she had some pretty powerful lessons to share. Finding Your Hidden Gold

OK. You’ve made the decision that you are going to be successful and you are going to grow your business. What do you outsource first? The answer is not as clear cut as you think as it is different for every person. Melanie shared a tool that she uses with her clients to determine which tasks get outsourced, and which ones you keep. She calls it “Finding Your Gold” and I love its simplicity. I also really like how it acknowledges the importance of passion and energy in growing your business. Here are the steps:

Step 1 On a sheet of paper, rule a few lines from the top to the bottom

Step 2 In one column, list every activity that you currently do in your business.

Step 3 next to each task, place a symbol based on the following “code”

Place a heart next to tasks that energise you, you absolutely love doing, and make you money!

Place a diamond next to tasks that you can do really well but they don’t excite you

Place a sad face next to tasks that you absolutely hate and that take your energy away.

Step 4 Tasks with a sad face get out-sourced first, then tasks with the diamond. Even though you can do something really well, if it saps your enthusiasm, eventually your entire business will suffer. Melanie gave a great example of a client who doubled her income within a few short months as soon as she outsourced the sad face and diamond tasks

My challenge to you

I really encourage you to do this activity. I know that as soon as I outsourced tasks that took up a lot of my time my business snow-balled. In fact, after today’s call I did a quick mental “Hidden Gold Hunt” and identified 2 more areas that use my energy and time that I will now out-source. Last week we launched our very first collaborative publication “The Law of Attraction in Action”. This book has been published to help you build a list from scratch and increase your relationship with existing customers and leads.

The book has already been downloaded hundreds of times and I have seen that many of our members have already added the book to their web sites, blogs and newsletters and are using it already to build a list. Congratulations for taking action!

There is evena video to show you how to link the pages to your home page of your website, along with a graphic I have created for you to put on your home page. I really hope this helps you develop the skills quickly to take advantage of this opportunity.

Today on our free webinar I covered in detail how you can use our unique publication to grow your own internet (and also off-line) business. The recording will be available for all members in the free audios section (under teleseminars link on the left) of the members area in a few hours. If you have no web site, no list and don’t expect to get a web site for a while

1. At a networking event offer to send a link to a free gift valued at $47  that will help them create success (plus you will keep them advised of any other great ideas) in return for their business card. You now have permission to add them to your mailing list.
2. The file is a bit big to email as an attachment. Instead send them to to join the Wonderful Web Ideas list or to go straight to the download page.
3. Send the link to the book in an email to all your business associates (as well as your affiliate link for Wonderful Web Women). This will help position you as a person with great ideas and resources so when you are ready to build your mailing list they will want to join.

2. Edit the web pages I have created for you to personalise them (or copy and paste into your existing site)
3. Sign up for an aweber account and add the sign up box to the web page provided
4. Let everyone you know about your gift and send them to the opt in page so they can claim their gift
5. Start creating a relationship with people who join by emailing them with discussion on the book and the parts you really liked.

2. Add the affiliate link to the download page for the book and in any emails you send out about the book

5. Add a link to the book and your affiliate link to the download page of any other product you may be selling.

1. Print the book and sell it or give it away to potential clients or reward special clients
2. Print the book and add it as a bonus to other physical products you are selling
3. Give it as a bonus for early bird registrations for a workshop you run
4. Burn it to CD and use it in all the ways you would use the printed book
5. Burn to CD and also add a presentation on the CD about yourself and what you offer
6. When you advertise in magazines or newspapers, offer the book as a gift (printed, CD or link to your web site to subscribe)

These are just a few ideas to get you started. I am in the process of creating coaching videos for you to show you how to download the resellers package, edit the web pages, get your aweber account and add the book to your site. Last week I shared with you an exercise to celebrate your achievements for 2007 and to prepare yourself mentally for 2008. This week I share with you an exercise to help you set goals for 2008 and push yourself out of your comfort zone. Next week we launch our first collaborative book called “The Law Of Attraction In Action - over 100 action steps to attract success in 2008″.

You see, everything has focused on giving you the tools to create success and prepare for a great year. But there was one thing missing that I wanted to give you but I do not have the expertise to provide it. So, the Law of Attraction in action? This week the opportunity came for me to gift you that next step!

Applying The Law of Attraction

If you’ve seen the movie “The Secret” or “What the Bleep” you will be familiar with the concept of The Law of Attraction. Basically it comes down to “what you focus on you attract into your life”. It sounds easy but the real challenge comes in staying focused on the thing you want and not letting doubt and old mental programs sabbotage your efforts.

Deliberately attracting the things you want (opportunities, money, relationships etc) is referred to as “manifesting” and is not as easy as it seems. When you are in “the zone” you know it. Everything just seems to happen to move you toward your goals. In fact, it can feel as if you are surfing a tidal wave and the energy around you is gliding you straight to shore. You just have to stay standing and the wave does it all for you (you may sense that I am a bit obsessed with surfing this summer).  Getting in “the zone” can happen by accident but it can also be manifested, or reached deliberately.

Manifesting Tools That Really Work

This week I was contacted by Heather Vale (you may remember her excellent interview a few months back). Heather and her partner Barry interview experts around the world on applying the secret. They have recently discovered 2 people who have worked closely with individuals for more than a decade to give them the tools to attract success. They are the real deal, quite achievers. Last week I shared with you an activity that I did with my family to celebrate all we had achieved in 2007. I loved this activity so much that we called our creation a “celebration board” and encouraged you to do the same? Have you had an opportunity to stop yet and really take the time to acknowledge all you have achieved?

We have had some lovely discussions in the forum, and others have sent me emails. I can see that this activity has really been a positive step for a lot of people. I took some photos of the “celebration board” my family created to share with you. As you can see in the photo below, the result is colourful and busy. Come to think of it, so is my family that created it!

Groover Gran and Setting Goals For 2008

I have spent the last week or so visiting family for Christmas and spent a lot of that time staying with my mum Bev (I always seem to sleep a lot when I stay with my mum. Do you do the same thing?). Mum is 73 years old and a wonderful inspiration who always seems to look for new and exciting ways to push herself out of her comfort zone.

This Christmas she decided to relearn how to ride a bike. It would have been 40 years I think since she really rode a bike but she was determined. So myself, Douglas, the 2 kids on their new Christmas bikes and “Groover Gran” headed down to the cycle track near the lake to give it a go. The first few goes were a bit scarey (for me!) but then for the next hour she powered along the track, even cutting across the grass when the walkers were too slow.

What Is Your Comfort Zone?

I share this story with you because it demonstrates the most important thing I want to pass on to you about setting goals for 2008. You need to push yourself out of your comfort zone. I’m not suggesting you be unrealistic (after all Bev didn’t set herself a goal to ride the Tour de France), but I do encourage you to set yourself a goal that will require you to learn or master a new skill. The confidence you get just by working towards that goal will flow on to other things in your life.

Create A 2008 Goal Board

The activity I share with you today flows on from the “Celebration Board” from last week. It is important to take the time to acknowledge and celebrate what you achieved in the last 12 months as it really gives you the confidence to set positive goals for the next 12 months.

Use another piece of art paper and a supply of coloured pencils and imagination. The board you will be working on should not be as busy as your celebration board - life will fill in all the extra achievements without you needing to plan in detail.

Draw a picture of the main thing that you are working for, or glue in a picture if you have one. For me, I drew my dream home. Around this focus, write 3 or 4 specific goals that push you out of your comfort zone but are realistic. You can see the goals I set myself in the picture below. Some of them really push me out of my comfort zone but I know I can do them if I stay focused. Even if I don’t achieve them this year, simply acknowledging them and focusing on them will bring me closer to the confidence to do them.

All Work And No Play?

Also look at other parts of your life - not just business/financial / work. If you can see in the photo below, one of my goals is to look good in a bikini! But I have also included goals around travel, music and sport. You don’t want life to be boring even if you do love your work like I do.

Here’s what my finished board looks like. I will hang this near where I work to remind myself of the direction I am heading - this should stop me being distracted with “busy work” and focus on the main game plan. I do encourage you to do the same as it is a very powerful visual motivator.

Make Yourself Accountable

Here’s the tough part. It can be challenging to set yourself goals that push you out of your comfort zone - but even tougher to tell someone else and make yourself accountable. That is why I have shared my goals and achievements with you (and thousands of others who will be reading this!). Does being so open with my dreams make me nervous? ABSOLUTELY! But you know what - I’m determined to do them now because I expect you to hold me accountable.

Don’t Sweat The Small Stuff

You’ll notice that I have not been super specific on when, during the year, the goals will be achieved. I have made this mistake before and felt like an absolute failure when I didn’t achieve the exact thing by the exact date. But you know what? When I lightened up - I actually got to where I wanted to go, in the right time - but not in the linear fashion I had planned.
