    Thanks Janet,
As I have just entered an award- slightly erent but really learning to get out there and promote as that is what a publishers want of the author.

    What a great prize

I think it was good that you explained the process and what is involved, it is not just filling in the form

Hi Janet, I totally agree that awards can do great things. The application in itself gives you a reason to realise just what you have achieved, and the awards events are fantastic networking opportunities. As you say, it is imperative to answer the questions so you adress just what it is the judges are looking for.
I won several business awards in 2007 including the MCEI ‘Women in Business’ award and met some fabulous people in Melbourne at the presentation event.
A woman in business who I greatly admire, Lana Mitchell of Backcreek Country, is now the holder of the NSW RIRDC Rural Woman of the Year 2010 Award, and is moving into the national finals shortly, after re-writing her award entry so that she more precisely addressed the award application requirements. I reviewed her application and was able to assist with some recommendations which she followed, and she did the rest. That award will do amazing things for her business!
I agree Janet – take the time to enter everything you can, from your local Chamber of Commerce awards to state and national national level.

  4. Hey Suzie good on you for taking action and entering an award. Stephanie hope this gives you the confidence to enter awards in your industry. Bev hey congrats on your 2007 wins. It will be great to get to know each other better as we have won the same award (I also won the Women in Business MCEI)as I’m sure we would have a lot in common. Lets stay in touch. Such good points re taking the time to review an application to make sure it addresses the judges’ questions. It sounds so obvious but it can mean an otherwise brilliant application cannot even be accepted.

Hi Janet! Congrats on your award and what a fabulous prize. I completely agree with the tips you shared on entering awards and of course the number one tips would have to be to just give it a go… you have nothing to lose and it’s amazing what you can actually find out about yourself by doing so. Last year was a wonderful year for me for awards as I was fortunate enough to win two at the Chamber of Commerce Awards including Best Community Organisation/Contribution as well as Employee of the Year and then went on to be a finalist in the Australian Business Enterprise Awards. It’s amazing what we can achieve when we do what we love to do and we make a point of sharing it with others… just like you do! Love your work, Chris Lucas

  6. Thanks Janet; and thanks for all the positive comments re the MCEI Marketing Awards. This year it will be even more exciting, as they are being held in conjunction with the Asia Pacific Conference.

So, as well as having the ‘Australian Marketer of the Year’ win a trip for 10 days to Taiwan; the winner will also compete with the Asian winners and ‘The Asian Pacific Marketer of the Year’ will be announced at the presentation in Melbourne on October 26th. Imagine being able to list this award on your bio!

Nominations are being accepted now and entries close on October 1st – but start your entry NOW! Over 40% of nominations last year pulled out because they ran out of time…don’t let this be you!

    Thanks for the tips Janet.

Lovely fellow Wonderful Web Women member Charly Leetham nominated me for this years MCEI Marketing Awards. As you suggested I ‘just did it!’. It was a great process to go through, seeing how far I had come since being a finalist in 2007. The Presentation is just over a week away…..very exciting!

Look forward to seeing you there Janet!
