Hey Mel don’t feel like you’ve been crying in your soup. Trojans so totally suck for more than the reason of the inconvenience. It’s like someone snuck into your home while you were still there and ransacked the place.
And then…..visitors drop in and they assume it is you who is such a slob!
We had trojans or something, on our http://www.nichepartners.biz site and everytime Charly our techy removed it they’d be back in another way.
The worst part, when people visited our site, they got a message saying our site was dangerous and go away.
Really, really awful.

Oh Janet! I know exactly how you feel! This exact thing happened to me and I had about 10 websites completely disappear last year. I wanted to quit too-but I didn’t and I’m glad you didn’t either.

You are a strong woman and I think you’ve done a smart thing by moving to HostGator. That’s where I moved too. They are wonderful.

I love your “bring it back even better” spirit!

I love Wonderful Web Women and have to believe that it will
be even more impressive than before-which will be a tough act
to follow.

I’m humbled. I’ve been griping for a few days about my sites having been hacked by a trojan that infected all my index files. My host didn’t want to know. So I’ve been painstakingly reinstalling the files. I certainly didn’t LOSE EVERYTHING like you and Tracy and others have … OMFG, how awful. I’d be crying in my soup! But wonderful web women just dust themselves off, look at how they can recreate things to be better and shinier and get on with it. More power to us all and especially you girls who are rebuilding. You go, girls!!

Thank you so much for your wonderful support. I am so touched by the loyalty and support so many people have shown me.
Today, over a coffee with Douglas The Wonderful Web Man, we were discussing gifts we could give our existing members who have stuck with us during this time. I’m quite excited. Feel like Christmas again (I get more excited about the giving at Christmas than the receiving – though mind you, I LOVE receiving!).
To give you an update, Wonderful Web Seminars is THIS CLOSE to being finished. Hopefully today our existing members can move back in.
Can’t wait to show you what we’ve done with the place

Amazing kick in the butt though:) Your subscribers will get a whole new shiny value packed resource and I bet they’ll be telling everyone about you and how they have to get over to your site to see for themselves!!!
I am wondering, is there a name for the kind of service that hostgator offers that is different from the kind of service that HubSpot offer?
I want to launch a do it myself website with a different folder for my blog and not sure the best place to go to start that.

I am devastated to hear what a horrible time you must have been going through…and to all the other amazing women who have also lost their sites. AAggghhh! My heart goes out to you, and thank you so much for sharing your experiences so that we don’t have to suffer the same fate.

Janet, as you have no doubt experienced by now with all the posts above, you have built an amazingly supportive community of members who will not only cut you some slack, but support you to get back on your feet. The generosity and love that you communicate (and gets felt) in the way you do business will also be returned to you in multitudes. I know it, and you have proved it….even the way you took immediate action to support Tracey whilst you are in the middle of a crisis. Such a wonderful example for us all.

As I said when we last met in Melbourne, quite apart from all that you have taught me about the nuts and bolts of doing business online, what I have most appreciated is the ethics of how you do business online – and I don’t mean the black and white, right from wrong type of ethics. I mean Ethics in the full sense :- thoughtfulness, care and consideration of others, conveyed with sincerity and authenticity. I choose my mentors very carefully, and these are the fundamental qualities I insist on – above all else …which is why I chose you.

Janet, you are an absolute gem. I know that whatever you do now, will be amazing, and have a whole community of women behind you.

In the midst of it all, I truly hope you have the happiest of New Years, and a margarita toast to you and the whole www community for showing how to really do business online!

Hi Janet – I am so sorry that you have experienced this tragedy (yep -to business people it is a tragedy) and I am so glad you are now using HostGator. It is not only one of the biggest it is one of the cheapest and the best. I do believe that these things happen to us for a reason. We not only grow stronger but we seem to be able to open new doors much easier – and that is what you are doing.

Another thing to keep in mind – whoever you are hosting with, make regular backups of your website so that you can re-establish it quickly if needs be.

Congratulations! You are not only a worthy ‘Australian Marketer of the Year’ (MCEI Award winner)- you can also add ‘Australian Business Survivor of the Year’ too!

I look forward to watching your re-development.

Dear Janet – I’m gobsmacked on your behalf, I remember how devastated I was when that happened to me a few years back when my webhost was liquidated, and my site was miniscule compared to yours! I had two wordpress hacks in 2009 as well, which were a much bigger deal and I learned then too that my database didn’t mean all my resource materials – had to scrube the site and begin again because the hacks were so widespread. And still, that site was tiny compared to yours. For me, getting really security conscious was a big reminder, doing redundant backups another, and best of all, I had to really sort my files to find everything that was missing, things that in a tired moment I’d saved in the wrong place etc – such an awful chore!

And the Feng Shui experts say that a declutter is a game changer – I know it’s a sucky way to change the game and all I can say really is – it’s a good thing you’re a woman

Juggling being a mum with children on holidays and crisis management isn’t easy. Enter the world’s best sister. Yesterday my sister came and picked up our children (traded them for her dog) and has taken them camping for 10 days with her own 3 children. Plus another dozen or so children and adults – my sister seems to attract crowds!
The kids think this is the best holiday they have ever had as they adore my sister and her children.
I’m grieving for them as I so love having them around and I think camping would be fun. The compromise though: Douglas The Wonderful Web Man has taken time off and we are both working on this together. Yet another reason to be productive and get everything cleared up before they get back. Then I can have fun with them before school goes back. Thanks for thinking of them.

Oh Janet, my heart energy goes out to you and your family, ’cause you’re part of this together and after all, it’s supposed to be holiday time. You’re a strong team and with lots of tears, lemons and margaritas you will be back better than ever!

I also recall you mentioning on one of our calls that you were thinking of making changes and that you hadn’t quite decided which way to structure. I guess you really didn’t plan for this event but now is the opportunity and as hard as it appears, you won’t look back in a few weeks.

My host was hacked, and lost everything – and the tragedy is I had over 200 sites – plus my entire database because I use Autoresponse Plus which is hosted on the host servers. Bye bye 15,000 contacts and clients. Starting now from scratch – here is my post about it — We will survive !

Talia: yes Lenore’s Outrageously Healthy site has also disappeared. We have been supporting each other through this and she is also taking the opportunity to do some Phoenix rebirthing. Now there’s a woman who knows how to make a good Margarita!
She’s a wonderful friend. She started as a private mentoring client and we have now developed into close friends and JV partners. She sent me the most gorgeous bunch of flowers this week to cheer me up – even while she’s facing similar problems.

Ok here I go again. Crying in front of my computer! But this time it is because I am so overwhelmed by your support and love. Thank you so much for your support. I really means a lot to me.
So many of you have stories of similar awful things happening. Ghislaine – 5 sites. Now that’s awful. We stopped using the memberspeed built in auto-responder ages ago because it had a lot of problems. When my mum stopped receiving my emails I realised it was time to change
Actually, we are not rebuilding our sites in memberspeed. I’m so tired of the bugs in it and the frustrating service we receive from them. So now I am super, super simplifying.I’ll be sharing with my gold members the exact software options we have chosen to go with and why in one of the intensive classes I intend to include as part of the shiny new Wonderful Web Women.

Janet, I have had a similar experience and it was devastating. Suffice to say that I found my new hosts and am sticking with them like glue. They are brilliant, always helpful and can fix anything. I’m so sorry to hear about what has happened. You are showing grace and courage at looking at the positives and turing a disaster into an opportunity. Wonderful Web Women and Wonderful Web Seminars have made a huge impact me on my and my dreams for creating my ideal future, and for that I thank you greatly. I look forward to hearing about the new and exciting horizon for WWW and you know what, there is every possibility that it is going to be bigger and better than before!

On another level, I am also feeling your pain of loosing something valuable and precious. On 31 Dec – new years eve, my hosting providers servers – Direct Horizon, based in the US – was hacked and all their clients sites were lost, with little to no chance of recovery. They to seem like your (former) friend Mr Fox, in that they seem to have dropped off the planet and are uncontactable. I lost my 2 sites, 1 of which I was preparing for my launch. But alas, I believe that it may actually be a blessing in disguise, as I too had been thinkingg for a few months that something wasn’t quite right, and this has made me rethink my business model, as I can now se in hindsight that I was trying to over complicate things.

I believe that everything happens for a reason, and I applaud you for taking the high road, to soldier on, to turn this on its head, to create opportunity, to maintain your vision, and most of all, to have the courage to never give up.

That is amazing – it was only a few weeks ago on the Intensive call that you mentioned how you would structure things on the sites if you were starting from scratch based on what you now know . It truly is amazing how sometimes we are forced into doing those things that seem too hard!
