Sometimes you find business lessons in the most unlikely of places. In this short video I share with you some unexpected insights into the power of Joint Ventures from the women who earn their living massaging on the beaches of Phuket, Thailand. And just to demonstrate there is a fine line between work and play, I share these tips while having a massage in Phuket! A tough way to multi-task?
At the end of the video I share how you can apply their successful business model to an online business and ways to turn your competitors into Joint Venture partners.
Love to know what you think. Why not share a comment on the blog here or over at Youtube?
Cheers
Janet
P.S. Here’s something about me you probably didn’t know. In my early 20′s, when I had spent all my money partying, I used to pay the rent by massaging tourists on the beach at Avoca, NSW. Yep, in my bikini. I figured if it worked in Thailand, why not in Australia? During the summer holidays I would start at 9am, approach the first group of tourists, give each a 15 minute massage for $5 then go for a swim. Then the rest of the day I would rinse and repeat as the remaining tourists came over to book the next massage!
I shared stories with the massage therapists in Phuket and we found we had a lot in common.

Janet, you glow, You are so relaxed … So pleased that you had such a wonderful holiday after giving us so much over the year/s.
Marg.
Apart from being jealous (its about 10 degrees here in New England NSW right now, heading for 1…) thank you!
Its encouraging info. I’ve spent quite a few months searching for the ‘right’ niche, and finding everything I enjoy ‘full’. But they’re not really!
So I’m on the right track and am SURE I’ll have some lovely JV friends within the next couple of weeks. Watch out for the new Womens Business Community – with some fun stories about city girls (tree changers, city/country returns etc) doing ‘city’ business in the bush!
Janet, your such an inspiration!
Hey thanks lovely people. @Marg I feel so relaxed and focused after such a great holiday. @Alison, many times the niche that has a lot of competitors has so many because it is a great niche so no such thing as “full”. To get you started, here is the Facebook profile of a friend of mine who would be perfect for you to get to know. She has just published a book in Australia of stories of entrepreneurs doing great things in rural areas. http://www.facebook.com/KerriePhipps .
Oh Louanne you make me blush:)
Hi Janet, thanks for the tips. As you commented one never knows where one is going to find an ideal business arrangement. We just have to remember to be open to opportunity and take action when you see/hear or find something.
I am almost ready to publish my poem, which by the way has been turned into an e book along with several gifts from people I have meet on my travels. One of the gifts will be a link to the Gold Member compilation The Law of Attraction in Action vol 3 which you encouraged me to be involved in. So again thank you!
Cheers
You’re adorable Janet! What a great message…and so fun to hear while you’re getting your massage. You have a very pleasant way of teaching…love it!

You know I think this video makes your masages a tax deduction as they were research for the video, what do you think?
Great Video and tips as always Janet!

LOL @Lenore. I wonder if shooting a few videos while away will mean I can claim the whole trip on my tax? Must admit, the only business thing we did discuss while on holidays is the potential for creating a sub-business around the niche of travelling entrepreneurs so we could blog around the world as a business expense!
Hey thanks Sue for your lovely comments. The secret is my 13 year old daughter holding the camera. I was worried she would start videoing too many wobbly bits (of me, not the camera) as she started to get bored!
Hey Marney so excited for you and the upcoming release of your book and poem. Using bonuses is a great idea of adding value and including one you are an author in will even further increase your credibility. If you listen to the recording of the last gold members Q & A (around about minute 100)there are the ideas on shared on how to make the most if the book as a bonus for your poem release.

nice article janet, as always. And the timing is great – I got a shock to see someone in my niche the other day, but as you say, there are probably plenty of opportunities for JVs and that will actually increase the business for both of us.
And the light has gone on now for who to approach for my upcoming book (yes Janet, my Tech Terms Untnagled book is finally happening!).
thanks again for the nudges
smiles and best wishes

(Oh, and hi Margie and marney, nice to see you here
Hello Janet,
What a great way to get a message across. Having a massage on the beach, and thinking about joint ventures. Life couldn’t get any better
Love it, thanks for sharing

I love collaboration. Three years ago my now partner and I were showing up at the same networking events. Instead of seeing each other as competitors, we found a way to collaborate and created Educating Small Business while also running our own separate businesses. This collaboration has turned into not only a wonderful business, but an amazing friendship. Thanks for the video Janet.
