In this week’s episode I share the main reason why people fail in creating a successful business. It is in fact, the ONLY way you can fail.
To find out more, watch this quick video in this week’s episode of Wonderful Web TV. Your Monday dose of Motivation, Mindset and Marketing.
I’d love to hear your comments and any tips you’d like to share. Share your thoughts below. I’ll come back and join in the conversation.
Cheers

Janet, again you are spot on.
My very first blog is somewhere is cyber space and I can’t even remember the name LOL
My current one was definitely started imperfectly as I am very untechy but I decided to do it anyway and tidied it up as I got more proficient.
Now…………..have to get that facebook page up and running
Go girl! That’s why you get results Claire because you get in and do it and learn as you go. Let me know when you get your Facebook page up and rocking.
Hi Janet,
I started a facebook page (very basic) a few days ago and am now learning what to do – I think LinkedIn was easier.
) That took me quite a few weeks to figure out.
Anyway, this means I can now comment on the private facebook page – woo hoo!!!

I agree Janet. Doing nothing is a decision and so is taking action. You need to do some planning (deciding on the niche, etc) but progress is more important than perfection or as the saying goes “build the plane while you’re flying it”. Once you start taking action the concept refines itself, and if it doesn’t feel right you can change it. Action takers rule!
I think the only time you need to hesitate on taking action is when you are doing something that may conflict with or undermine your other activities or day job. If you’re a teacher you may want to think twice about starting up a pornography website…! If you’re in a field where your market is major corporates then your web presence needs a higher level of professonalism than it may in other niches.

I love the great value you give in your comments Talia. Believe it or not, I remember an article of a teacher who naively posed nude on the internet for an article. Of course she was discovered. The students thought it was great but she got sacked.
Talia,
I agree with you re the level of professionalism. When I first started doing stuff online, I was very hesitant to choose a niche in my area of professional skill (I am a speech pathologist). Partly because I wasn’t sure of my niche, but also because I didn’t want to make any mistakes that might make my peers question my professionalism. I am currently developing my niche in helping people to go gluten free, and have finally pinned down my area of passion and uniqueness in the niche
Once I have finished developing my business in this niche, I will know so much more to develop my other area of passion, helping people with disabilities learn to communicate, and be able to match my professional skills with my business skills as well
@ Janet – thanks for your great feedack. That’s made my day!
@ Gail – I think you’re right to be cautious as a qualified health professional. I’m interested in your passion for gluten free living. I have coeliac disease so gluten free is a necessity for me (although I would LOVE to be able to grab what I want and not have to think about whether it contains gluten). Good luck with your niche
Talia´s last [type] ..Are you writing a book? You’ll love this
Hi there Talia
I hope I am on your list so that I can get your information as my daughter has Coeliac and the more information I can get to help her the better.
Absolutely Janet! The learning is on the way – not all beforehand! I’ve had to get over the ‘wanting it all clear in my head’ before I start – but the clarity certainly comes along the way
Be brave, step out and go for it!
Spot on comment “The learning is on the way”. I know I am constantly learning through imperfect action.
Hi Janet
Thank you for that tip, I have been doing things sort of randomly for a while before I decided to just do it and start with a niche. this gave me the opportunity to learn while I go.
Yes I did change my niche and even my passion. Initially I thought building the site is great, but now it is more about sharing what I know.
Thank You for always keeping up on track , are a great leader!
Thanks Linky. Often through the process of learning and oing we uncover what our true passion really is.
hi Janet,
Thanks for this reminder- you are exactly right! I am sitting around looking at tons of information about how to do everything, and I need to just start. THanks for the kick in the pants, I needed it. Seems overwhelming at times, but I have to take baby steps and start learning as you said.
Thanks!!!
Gina
Happy to kick away Gina
Hey Janet, great video. As you know when I first met you I was in information overload and had no clarity. You helped me tap into my field of diamonds and after that it still took me a while to get going. For the past 6 months I’ve been taking consistent action online and my business is growing by the day. It’s actually grown beyond what I thought it could already and it’s only becuase of taking action. Now I learn and then DO, instead of just constantly learning.
You are right, the opportunities open up to you once you are prepared to put yourself out there. That’s a process in itself because the more confidence you get, the more you put yourself out there. And yes, there is tons of stuff to learn, constantly
I’m just about to apply for your rising stars radio since you were one of my great inspirators and still are
That’s another step out of the comfort zone and that’s what it’s all about, right?!
Jedha great to hear you are going to be one of our rising stars and I love your observation that your business online has grown beyond what you expected simply because you started taking action. Congrats.
Hi Janet
Thanks so much this is perfect timing for me…for the first time I think ever, I have launched my new facebook page, The Wellness Effect, without it being perfect and without knowing my exact niche, and its been such a wonderful feeling just doing something positive in moving forward.
So thank you for the positive reinforcement that’s its ok
Warmly
Jayne
Congrats Jayne. Love a woman of action. It makes future steps seem so much easier.
Hi Janet
I always look forward to my Monday dose of Motivation from you and again you are spot on for me. I have been moving forward – the Facebook pages are there and I tweet regularly, I have a blog …… but there it kind of stops. I have really fallen out of love with my website and so don’t post blogs – I don’t want it to be seen – people say they love it, but its got my old logo on – the new one is slowly coming together, but n the meantime I really need to start driving some traffic to the existing one via the blog – oh at times I wish I didn’t care so much.
I’m at it this week – I will blog – watch this space I’m putting it out there to you all – and yes I know, the new blog will be a proper part of the website not a wordpress.com one!
laughing at myself whilst seeing myself so clearly in your message.
Hugs from the UK
Julie
Hey Julie sometimes when you can see so clearly in your mind what you know you can create, what you currently have can seem embarrassing. But if your target customers like it, then get it out there. Besides, a good thing to blog about is the changes you are making and your decisions you make along the way.
Hi – do you think that blogs, Facebook etc are necessary? Does it give you exposure that translates into clients? As a newbie – why would I do this please?
thanks
Willy
