[article] How I went from no list to 2000 fast

When I launched Wonderful Web Women I had no email mailing list at all. I was branching out into a totally new area for me and I had no reputation and no-one knew me. I knew I had to build my mailing list as a priority and I had to do it creatively because I literally had absolutely no money left to spend in my business.

In fact, the day before I launched using the strategy I’ll tell you about in a minute, my book keeper, Jan, said to me “Janet, I’ve just paid a bill and you have nothing left in your account”. I remember we looked at each other and I said “tomorrow has to work, I have no choice. I have to succeed”. It was a scary moment. Even writing that, I can feel the awful sickness in my stomach of the fear I felt.

Let me tell you how it all began. It started from an idea I had sitting in the audience at an Internet Marketing conference. This was one of those events that goes for 4 long days with multiple speakers on stage sharing their story and selling their programs.

One thing that really annoyed me was the incredible scarcity of women presenting from the stage. I was hungry for mentorship from someone who I could really relate to and the testosterone on stage just didn’t impress me. I wanted to hear from women like myself who had created success in a way that suited a woman’s strengths. And I wasn’t the only one. The women attending these events had the same frustration.

So the seed for Wonderful Web Women was born and I set off on my quest to find the most successful women on the internet and interview them. Long story short, I decided to hold a tele-summit (even though I didn’t have a website, know how to interview, know how to run a teleseminar or….well everything really).

What I did realise though, was I couldn’t do this on my own. I would need help so joint ventures and a tele-summit seemed the fastest way to get results.

So I brainstormed a wish list of amazingly successful women, plucked up my courage, approached 8 women and asked them to join me in the launch of Wonderful Web Women. To my surprise they all said yes!

Within a couple of weeks I had a list of over 2000 highly targeted leads, had replaced my previous year’s income and had people contacting me from the other side of the world asking me  if they could pay me to mentor them.

That’s the short version.

I’ve learnt a hell of a lot about Joint Ventures in the 7 years since. It is core to the way I do business and it is one of the specialist topics I teach my clients. One thing I do know is it is very easy to do Joint Ventures wrong.

I have a rare resource for you to help you master Joint Ventures. My friends Milana and Rich are in the middle of the 2015 launch of their JV community which has been going strong for a few years now and I support them every year. I do that because I know they over-deliver. This year, as part of their launch, they have decided to give away the course notes from the JV program they previously sold for $1000. I’ve had a look and I’m really surprised they are giving this away. It’s very comprehensive.

You need to opt-in over here to get the course and there’s heaps of other top quality resources you’ll also get.

Grab hold of it because next week I’ll share with you how I can help match you up with JV partners in our community. You can use some of the skills you learn in the book.

Cheers,

Janet
