It’s getting close:

Time for an update on our collaborative book.

Good grief this has been a HUGE project.

We have 105 authors (I had to start saying no) and I have

to say I am incredibly impressed with the quality of the stories we

have compiled in this book. We have some amazing women in our community

and the great thing is the variety of the stories.

For example, there will be one chapter with the story of a self made millionaire,

followed by a chapter with a woman who is just taking the first steps in her first business,

and each story is as inspiring as the other!

An Update on Progress and Timelines

My team is working flat out to make sure the digital version of the book is available for

Tuesday 8th March, Aussie time.

I fully expect it will go live minutes before the teleclass I will hold that day to

share how you can grow your business using this book.

It’s a bit like the virtual equivalent of one of those “Backyard Blitz”

100 Year Anniversary of International Women’s Day

Did you know that March 8th 2011 is the 100th year of International Women’s Day?

1 Million Women out of Poverty

Although there have been amazing progresses made for women over the past 100 years there are still millions of women who live in poverty with no hope of social welfare or even borrowing money to start a business and change their lives. We can change that.

Wonderful Web Women is proud to announce we are now an ambassador for The 1 Million Women out of poverty project which is an initiative of Opportunity International Australia. This project has already helped over 1 million women gain access to micro-finance. These are small loans which allow a woman to start her own business and break the poverty cycle. Each step is just as important as the other and under each heading I list ideas and strategies as I learn them or get a brainwave. That way, when I am looking for ideas to grow my business, I just look on the appropriate page. It also means I don’t get overwhelmed by ideas and feel pressured to do everything at once. I know where to find it.

So, what are these 8 key steps? 8 steps that you only need to make small changes to, in order to see massive results?

Over the next few articles I will expand on each of the steps but I’ll list them below. Keep these in mind when planning a project or when looking for ways to increase your profits. So here goes…

The First 8 Pages

1. The Seed / Idea

I see a business as a growing, living organism and like everything that grows, it starts with a seed. This is the most important part of a business and the one most entrepreneurs short cut. Under this heading I list ideas but also techniques to test if an idea will work. Is there a demand for my business idea?

2. Traffic

There are so many ways to drive traffic to your site. Under this heading i list all the different strategies I hear of. If I notice my traffic drops to my web site, I look under this heading and implement just one of the ideas there.

3. Convert to List

Once you get people to your web site, you need to get them to join your mailing list. Simply making small changes which increase the percentage of people who join your list, will make huge differences to your income.

4. Sales Conversion

On this page I list ideas that will make it easier for people to choose to purchase. Sales copy is the obvious one but there are heaps of other ideas you can implement quickly that can make a huge difference.

5. Increase the value of the sale

How can you get people to spend more at the time they buy? Would you like fries with that? Simply increasing the average spend for the same number of customers will have a dramatic impact on your income.

6. Increase the average number of sales per customer

On this page I list ideas of other things my customers may also want to buy. For example, ideas to increase the average amount of time a person remains a member of a membership program. member retention and additional products fall under this heading as well as lots of other strategies.

7. Decrease Costs

Not as exciting as increasing sales but often easier to do and the results can be very long term. For example I just decided to move my office back home because after decluttering, I didn’t want to leave home of a morning to go to the office. The energy is my home is just so lovely now. This saved over $700 per month which is roughly equivalent to recruiting about 15 new paying members each month.

8. Systems and Admin

Systemising repetitive tasks can save you a fortune. You can outsource tasks for much cheaper than you do them yourself. On this page I list ideas that will make my business a more streamlined operation.

Let’s get one thing straight first. You don’t make your money from selling the book. This is one of the biggest misconceptions. People like JK Rowling may but don’t count on sales to make you a fortune.

So if you don’t make your fortune from sales of the book, how do you make money?

Attract Your Ideal Customer

When you are positioned as an expert in the eyes of the public (which happens as soon as you publish a book) you stand out from the crowd.

When your ideal customer is choosing between 2 suppliers who do you think they will choose? The person with established credibility who is a recognised author or the person with no established expert status ?

Get Free Publicity For Your Business

Main stream media such as radio, TV and newspapers LOVE an author. In their eyes if you are an author you are an expert. Also, if you have contributed to a book you are TALENT. In media speak, this means you have a story to share and a depth of knowledge to make that story interesting. You can’t pay for this type of coverage.

Create products & coaching programs based on your chapter topic.

If you’ve read the book “The Secret” you will have noticed that there were many contributing authors. Rhonda Byrne owns the book but many of the individual authors have used their inclusion to really grow their businesses. Search on their names. You will find many who have created courses, tele-classes, work books, work shops, conferences etc all based on what they shared in the book. This is where the real power lies and is the topic of the coaching program run by Christine Kloser for the contributing authors of The Power of Choice Book.

Next Steps

This book is a true collaborative effort. As well as close to 50 authors contributing articles, the book will  be edited, proof read and formatted by a collaborative editing team made up of Wonderful Web Women members. So here’s the time lines so you know when the book will be available for you to gift to visitors to your website.

Now until half way through January: Editing team will review every article. If changes are needed to the article we will contact the author and advise them how to improve the article so it fits with the theme of the book. We expect every article to be submitted as we will work with each author to help them adjust their article if needed.

Mid January: Any changes received to the articles by authors

Mid January until end of January: formatting of ebook, creation of website, add author offers to website.

what’s the time line from here?

Length of submission

• 1 page minimum, 10 pages maximum
• As a word guide: between 500 and 2500 words

Topics

The title of the book is law of Attraction in Action. Your article does not need to be on The Law of Attraction. Your article must give guides to taking ACTION. Part of the guidelines asks for 3 action points readers can take based on your article.

What if I have never written before?

That’s ok. Do the best you can and our volunteer editors will give you feedback if your work needs improving. Last year, many people wrote their first article / chapter ever and the quality was excellent. They had doubts before they started too.

Once I am a contributor does my name end up on the front page of Wonderful Web Women or is this another process?

No. Only our guest speakers are listed on the home page of Wonderful Web Women. You will be listed on the speaker feature page of Wonderful Law of Attraction.

Can you put YouTube links into book?

Sure. A suggestion is to take a screen grab of the video and then put this image in the book. We can then put the link to the video below the image.

What format do you need the chapter submission ?

We have provided a word template for you to use. Please use that as it will make it so much easier for us to put the final document together. Here is the link to download it.

What types of businesses would this be viable for

The topic has been chosen because you can twist it around to suit any business niche. You can talk about how to attract security when you are driving by including actions you can take to maintain your car. As long as the emphasis is on action and being the best you can be.

Contributing to the book will give me credibility but how else can it grow my business?

• You will can put a link to your web site at the end of your article so readers will visit your web site
• You can make a special offer to readers of your chapter that will entice them to come to your website and join your mailing list. A perfect enticement it a free ebook, audio or autoresponder course. Something they need to sign up to get. Then you can build on the relationship through your newsletter. Some people even offer discounts on services or free sessions if you don’t have a product.

Do I need to have a gift to giveaway to contribute?

• No you don’t but I encourage you to as it will help you make the most of this opportunity

I don’t have time to write my chapter and set everything up for a free gift for readers. What can I do?

• We’ve thought of a way to make this easier for you. If you have a description of your gift, great. Mention it at the end of your chapter. We have made it that all gifts will be listed on one page of a new website we will create especially for this book. It will be something like www.wonderfullawofattraction.com/gifts . We can add your gifts in January (or even later if you need to) so this takes the pressure off you.

Will the names/emails that are collected from those who want to download the ebook, and the names collected from the gift downloads be shared with the all of contributors? Will WWW have the entire list, and will this be shared?

There are 3 sets of people who can benefit from the distribution of this book throughout the Internet. Below is the way each party has the opportunity to grow their mailing list.

1. All free and gold members of Wonderful Web Women: Everyone has the right to give the book away. You can give it as a gift to your existing customers or give it away on your web site in return for an email. They join through your email program. The page they are sent to after they join your list is on our special book site. They do not need to join our mailing list to download the book. This makes it easy for you because you don’t need to worry about how much hosting space is taken up when people download the book.
2. Contributors: You can benefit as above but also you benefit when a complete stranger reads the book and decides to join your mailing list to take you up on your offer.
3. Wonderful Web Women: The only time we get people on our list is if the reader wants to check out all the special offers each contributor has made. To access the gift page they need to join our mailing list.

is there an opportunity to also be an affiliate on this? Meaning promote and get a share of the revenues?

Yes. You can make money as an affiliate in 2 ways:

1. This is a good time to promote Wonderful Web Women to your friends and customers using your Wonderful Web Women affiliate link. You can promote the opportunity to be a contributing author. You can join as an affiliate by logging into wwwomen, clicking on the affiliate link at the top and signing up. You will get your affiliate link. Our team has also created some sample emails you can use to promote this project. Simply look under the endorsement emails section in the affiliate tools area.
2. When the book is launched it is given away for free. We will show you how to use the wwwomen affiliate link when you direct new subscribers to the download page for the book. If readers are so impressed with the quality of our contributing members they decide to join Wonderful Web Women – you get credited.

You can find out all about Fabienne’s system here. Read on because I will reveal a part of Fabienne’s web site I want you to visit so you can study how she puts her methods into practice in her own business. Or as Fabienne calls it “Talking the walk, rather than walking the talk” (ie, do it first then talk about it).

Pull Marketing

Fabienne refers to the concept of “pull marketing”. This means how you attract your customers to you, rather than you having to chase them. Ideal isn’t it? Here are the first steps to do this.

1. People look for solutions to problems.

You know, the sort of thing that wakes them at 3am. For Fabienne, she solves the problem of people who don’t have enough clients so they don’t have enough money coming into their business. Look at what problems your clients have that you solve.

2. Look at how you are communicating what you do

So you solve a problem your customers have but do they know that? People don’t really care what you do and what services you provide. Not really. They want to know that you are a problem solver. If you can give them the solution, then they’ll be interested in how you do it. For example, People don’t care if you are a coach who provides a certain amount of one on one coaching, work to targets, hold them accountable etc. For Fabienne, they care that she will increase the number of clients she has in the time she is working with them – guaranteed.

What solutions do you offer?

3. Your selling point may be YOU

When you are working out what sets you apart from your competitors, sometimes it will be YOU. For example, Fabienne attracts many clients because she is a mum of young children who is caring and approachable. When I started Wonderful Web Women I never thought of mentoing people myself – after all who needs another person out there teaching internet marketing? Wrong. I quickly found that people asked me to work one-on-one because of who I was, not just what I know. The lesson here? Be yourself and reinforce it in every contact and communication method you have with your prospects. When you join Fabienne’s list you will notice her audios, videos and newsletter exude her personality and often refer to her role as a mother as well as a business woman.

Gives me goosebumps

I’ll share with you their unique approach in a moment but first can I share with you something that just gives me goosebumps? This story is such an affirmation to me that I have created something through Wonderful Web Women that has the potential to change people’s lives. I hope it will also inspire you to grab the opportunities we create for you and use them to create the life you want.

Taking action on opportunities

These are actions Connie and Charly took through Wonderful Web Women. See how each one has built on the other?

1. Wonderful Web Forum:

This is where they met. Connie and Charly both posted to the forum with comments to help another member who had a question on blogging. They had both just started a blog. Connie also commented on posts left by Charly’s daughter.

The message here? Helping others, no matter how simply, helps you build relationships with others. Even the person you are NOT helping.

2. Ask Questions on our calls and the discussion time after each call:

Connie always asks great questions. (As a note, my Mum comes to many of our calls. She’s my greatest fan. She told me she had to be on the call today because Connie would be there. Why? Because Connie always asks good questions?). Charly always offers great tips. They both happened to ring into the same call and struck up a discussion on the line with us.

Message here: Contribute and ask questions. You will get known as a person who thinks and contributes.

3. Join a mastermind group

Charly joined a mastermind group that Connie was part of. This is something we set up and manage for our gold members. This kept them accountable on their goals and they started to develop a level of trust with each other.

Message here: A mastermind group is one of the most powerful ways to achieve your golas and find like-minded people to help you.

4. Wonderful Web Giveaway

In July we ran our first Give Away event as a way to help our members grow their list, and start one if they hadn’t started already. You needed to have a product to give away and Connie didn’t have one. Charly helped Connie create an MP3 product by interviewing her. Charly also gained experience interviewing which she wanted.

Message here: Use opportunities others provide you as deadlines to motivate you to take action. Ask for help if you need it. Often the person helping will benefit just as much as you. NB: we will be running another Giveaway next year and will be launching another exciting collaborative project next month

5. Wonderful Web Women Birthday Competition

When we turned 1 year old a few months ago we ran a competition for members who had created success through Wonderful Web Women. Charly and Connie used this as a deadline for them to launch a one page web site announcing their new venture Stretch Your Mind and Body .

Message here: You don’t have to have your entire business mapped out and perfect. Get started. Put a simple blog web site up (Charly and Connie will help you) and then flesh it out. Again, use opportunities provided by others to motivate you. By the way, they won the competition.

6. A Challenge: An interview and chance to promote a product package

When I read their competition entry, I was so impressed with what Connie and Charly had achieved I offered to interview them. This meant they really had to think through what their new business offered. They also had the opportunity to promote a product to our listeners. They used this as a motivation to put together an incredible package that really helps people new to Internet Marketing (and in fact, experienced people as well) by supporting both the left and right side of the brain. They created videos, audio and even write a book to meet this deadline.

Message here: Take serious action. Even if you have only created something small in the past (such as the MP3 for the giveaway event) don’t let that stop you. Use the lessons you learned and THINK BIG!!

I hope this “anatomy of the path to success” will give you hope and inspiration. The path I have described above has taken less than a year. Often it is hard to see how one small step will lead to something bigger, but that first step is the most important one you will take.

Wow, there’s a whole new “parallel dimension” out there! I only joined Facebook yesterday in preparation for interviewing Mary Pat and what a revelation that was. At first I felt a bit nervous, a bit like you would if you were going to a party at a place you had never been to before and you didn’t know who else was there. You weren’t sure if you knew anyone but you were sure there were lots of clicks of people who already knew each other and didn’t need you. Do you know the feeling?

I only filled in the basics (I figured MaryPat would let me know what to do), followed the instructions and then found that Facebook actually suggested people I would like to meet and I knew some of them (how did it know?). I then discovered that I could use the technique my mother taught me when I started school – I simply asked someone to be my friend!

How to use Facebook to find and nurture Joint Ventures

First,  let’s define a Joint Venture:

A joint venture is 2 people (or more) getting together to create a new entity, a new venture. It’s a 2 way street in that each person contributes in the form of money, product, knowledge, contacts, hard work etc. Whichever of these they have to contribute.

It is different to an affiliate arrangement which is pretty one sided. You are not really working closely together and contributing to the finished product.

Examples of a Joint Venture

MaryPat and I are JV partners. We both created a product today together, the recording of our interview. We both promoted each other’s businesses and we are helping each other’s customers.

Another example could be where one person has a great idea and industry knowledge, but no time. The other person contributes sweat and hard work and contributes to the creation of the product etc.

How to use Facebook to find and develop JVs

1. First of all, go to http://www.facebook.com and sign up
2. Send me an invite to be my friend http://profile.to/janetbeckers/
3. Gradually fill out information in your profile about yourself (books, music, hobbies etc). The whole idea is that people want to form relationships (JVs) with people they can relate to, so let them know a bit about yourself.
4. Important. In your profile make a space to say “I want to meet people who… and my target customers (or I can help people who)…….. Be clear and specific
5. When you invite someone to be your friend, include a personal note about WHY (eg, I really admire your work)
6. DON”T go straight away and ask for help or say you are looking for a JV
7. DO take the time to write comments to their profile, contribute to any discussion they may start and introduce them to people you think may help them (you can do this automatically through facebook)
8. It’s like any relationship, you say hello and introduce yourself before you ask to go on a date!
9. Do join groups in facebook on your topic. There are thousands of them, you don’t have to be invited to join and it is an excellent way to find contacts in your niche.
10. Join niche groups: As well as a great way to find contacts (i.e. JV partners) it is also a powerful way to do your market research. If people are discussing problems they have, if you can find a solution to that problem, you have a business.

What an inspiring call today. I had so many messages sent through when Stephanie Mulac shared her story of her children’s reaction when Stephanie and her husband reached their financial goal which meant he never had to work the night shift again. Build a list from scratch with give away events

This is the way Stephanie grew her list from scratch – quickly.

A give-away event works this way.

1.       One marketer organises the event and contacts lots of people and asks them to contribute a product that is valuable but they are willing to give away

2.       The contributors donate a product and create a page on their own website where the product can be downloaded

3.       When a visitor signs up for the giveaway event they then see a page where there are heaps of free products to choose from

4.       When they want to download a product, they first give their name and email to the owner of the product on a sign up page before they can download the product.

5.       This is how the contributors grow their list. Only people who are interested in their product will sign up to download it, so the contributor knows they are building a list of people who will be interested in learning more from them.

Start as a contributor first

Stephanie recommends you start as a contributor first. To do this you need to have a few products (or even services) ready to offer. She recommends starting with Private Label Products but importantly adapting them so they are unique and are high quality.

Of course this is just the tip of the iceberg. We cover heaps more in the interview which can download already from the member’s area. Stephanie’s product takes you by the hand so you are ready to implement this strategy quickly.

Today Sandi talked about assertiveness, or what she refers to as Self-Assured Personal Expression. She had some great insights on the differences between assertiveness, submissiveness and aggression. I especially liked her rejection of the traditional ways we look at this and her much clearer way of looking at the way we respond to situations.

Sandi talked about situations where we are “other centred” or “self centred” and it is amazing how clear this makes it to decide how you will react when you are put in a position where you feel pressured to say Yes when what you really want to say is No. And you know what is a really nice off-shoot of this. It is so much easier to decide what is important, where your priorities are clear on how to create “balance”.

Why this is so important

Of course, this is only a fraction of what Sandi talked about. You can listen to the recording in the Gold member’s area later today. I can’t stress enough the importance of listening and applying a lot of what Sandi has taught. Every single successful woman I have interviewed so far has stressed that the most important thing they did was sort out their own thoughts, values and sort out any emotional baggage they are carrying. This is essential before you can move forward.

In fact I share a story on the call about a situation I faced that forced me to make big changes in my life. Changes that Sandi gives such great direction on in her book “Women on the Move”. I would not be enjoing such a wonderful life now if I had not gone through that process and I encourage you to do the same.

Some Great Strategies from Sandi

Sandi gave some excellent strategies for developing assertiveness. You can hear them all on the recording but I want to share one with you that I intend to implement this week. You can hold me accountable.

Sandi suggested buying a beautiful note book and call it your “Victory Journal”. In this book you write each day (for a start anyway) a bullet list of things you did well that day. They don’t have to be huge, though of course the really big ones go on there. Even things like “I met a deadline” or “communicated with a cranky person without losing my temper” or “wrote down potential topics for my ebook”. You use this book to look back on when you are frustrated with yourself, having a bad day ect. We don’t celebrate our wins near enough do we? The nice thing about this book is it isn’t about what other people have said about you – it is about what you have said about yourself. I didn’t realise the impotance of this until Sandi’s talk. So that’s my commitment. I’ll start a “Victory Journal” and I’ll let you know how it goes.

Spreading The Virus

As long as you have lots of links to your web site in the book, and a reason for people to visit your site to get even more great information – then your free book will eventually create you a wonderful list of targeted prospects. If you make your book a downloadable digital book (as a PDF) then not only is it easy to pass around, it is also dirt cheap for you to distribute.

Okay, okay that all sounds good I hear you say, BUT…….. It will take me for ever to write a book and I have no idea how to produce it and who will I get to pass it on if I don’t have a list yet? That’s where we come in!

First Members’ Collaborative E-Book

We will help you to create a viral e-book and help to spread the word with the first Wonderful Web Women Group Book.

Here’s the plan. All Gold members are invited to contribute an original article (never seen anywhere else) on the topic of the book. You can include a biography and link to your web site as well as a special offer to readers of the book. The offer must be genuine and valuable enough for people to visit your site and submit their contact details in order to access the offer. This is how you build your list.

The great content and the excellent offers will make the book viral.

All members, free and gold will have give-away rights to the book as a gift to their list (or just friends). We can all work together to suggest ways to make the book go viral as together we will come up with some great ideas that we would rarely come up with on our own.

Share Your Ideas

I suggest we aim to have the book ready to “publish” at the beginning of the new year. It is a logical time to give a gift and a way of inspiring people to make the most of the new year.
