I’m so excited. My lovely friend and mentor Jo Martin is returning to Australia (it’s too cold in the UK) for a few months and will be running just 4 one-day workshops while she is here. Jo is one of the most successful and impressive speaker trainers in the world so when I was offered the opportunity to present from the stage and sell my coaching programs – she was the person I sought out for help. Even via phone and email Jo was able to mentor me from absolute speaking newbie to presenting and selling successfully in a very short time. She has a simple system and a very methodical and inspiring way of teaching.

I learnt so much remotely I can’t wait to learn from her in person. I’ll be at the Sydney event on the 1st March and she has events in most capital cities of Australia starting 14th February.

The tickets are very reasonably priced (a steal really) and if you are ready to take your business to the next level and learn how to create presentations that can make you some serious money then you need to be there.

If you come to the Sydney event, let me know. We’ll make sure we can get together for a meal or drinks.

Here are the details:

If you remember, in September I shared with you my journey to the US to present for the first time at The Bridging Heart and Marketing Conference.

Many of the Wonderful Web Mentors I have interviewed over the last year rallied around to help me when I rang to ask for their advice, especially Speaking Expert Jo Martin whose presentation program I have been doing.

Well in 13 sleeps I will be presenting again on invitation at the Perth (Australia) conference “Million Dollar Divas”. I have complementary tickets to share with you to this 2 day event and I’d love the chance to catch up with you there. The line up is excellent and varied.

I really like how they are also scheduling informal “chats on the couch” as well as formal presenations. I’m sure there will be real gems shared.
Let me know if you can be there and I’ll look out for you.

I am so grateful to Jo Martin who helped me prepare for my debut at platform selling. You see I have spoken in public before and am not too fazed by it but I have never had the challenge of presenting for 60 minutes and then offering a home study coaching program at the end which is valued at $1497. Like everything, there is a system to follow to do this well and Jo is one of the best teachers of this system. Let me share with you a couple of things I learned from Jo and how it worked when I had the chance to put it into action when I was invited to present at the Bridging Heart and Marketing Conference in Los Angeles.

Why present and sell from the platform anyway?

Jo shared during our interview that presenting from the stage is one of the most effective ways to attract new customers to her web sites and importantly, convert them to buying customers. This is why:

Meeting people in person, talking and shaking hands is a far more effective way of creating relationships than is ever possible via telephone and email.

Because you are a presenter and not just a delegate, you are established as an expert in your niche.

People who attend conferences are usually serious about learning and so are pre-qualified customers – they are more likely to be interested in what you have to offer

You have a whole 60 minutes to show these pre-qualified customers that you know your stuff and are able to help them get where they want to go.

People who attend conferences are usually able to pay for your products and services. Even if the conference is free or low cost, most still have to pay for accomodation, food and travel.

This is one I underestimated the power of until my first presentation. Potential customers have the opportunity to meet existing customers of yours and hear first hand what your service is like. So you better make sure you have looked after your customers because they will let others know over lunch!

Judith and Jim (organisers of Bridging Heart and Marketing Conference) asked for a show of hands for people in the audience who are members of Wonderful Web Women – about a quarter of the room put their hands up!

How to structure your presentation

Jo Martin is an incredible source of practical knowledge. When you sign up for Jo’s free information, she has a whole section that shows you step by step how to structure your presentation. I followed this exactly and I suggest you start there.

It doesn’t matter if you are presenting to the local business group of 20 people or a conference of thousands, you still use the same structure. It is logical to follow and like all good systems, tested to work.

Keep It Simple

One of the best tips Jo shared with me was to simpify my content into 3 to 5 steps. No more than 5. If you are like me, you have so many stories to tell and knowlege to share that you want to squeeze as much in as possible. The trouble with this is the poor listener gets information overload, can’t take in any more and either tunes out or tries to learn it all and gets stressed.

It just doesn’t work. With Jo’s guidance I was able to simplify my teaching by grouping content under 3 headings, “Passion, People and Profit”. So much easier for people to digest. So instead of an all-you-can-eat-buffet the audience gets a 3 course meal with each course selected to complement each other (as you can tell by my analogy I’ve been eating well here!).

How to get Jo’s help

Jo has put together an excellent, step by step mentoring program which is very affordable and has made a special offer just for our members (that means you).
