Wow. I go away for a week with no computers and no phone and I return to find an incredible number of Wonderful Web Action Takers.
In all, 36 wonderful people (or partnerships) created a video for the challenge. Most of these were the very first videos people had created so they really pushed themselves out of their comfort zone. I am so impressed with the quality of the videos and mostly by how genuine each person is.
I really enjoyed this opportunity to get to know more about people in our community. Every one is so different and I think that’s what makes video such a powerful marketing medium.
Even if you have the same target market, YOU are unique and so you appeal to different people and share a different approach.
I’m hooked.

So I encourage you to take the time to view these inspiring videos, leave your comments of encouragement and visit their sites. Simply by the fact that these people take action, you will know that Read more

This week Carrie Wilkerson shared some excellent tips on creating videos that spread your message wide by going viral (contagious like a cold, only good). One of the hard things though is knowing what to create your videos on so that your ideal customers will view the video and think “Ah ha, this is the person I need to do business with”. Here’s some great ideas Carrie shared:

Video Glossary: In every niche there are terms, phrases etc that people need explained. For example in my niche I could explain terms like affiliate marketing, auto-responder, joint venture, passive income.

Create short and sweet videos defining each term and showing how clever you are.

FAQ: Have a look in your “sent” folder of your email program. Look at what questions you keep answering over and over again. Create short videos answering these questions.

A to Z of your niche: Create a series where you discuss a topic in your niche that starts with A, then B, then C etc. The nice part of this is it is sequential and people like to collect all parts

Mastery Series: This is one I just thought up:) Create a series on how to master a particular technique, software etc. For example a series of videos on how to master twitter, cooking a 3 course meal, balancing your budget etc.

Carrie shares heaps more ideas in her free video training.

Okay. Are you an action taker or an action watcher?
Carrie Wilkerson, a.k.a. The Barefoot Executive is certainly a woman who takes action! On our interview today Carrie challenged us (including me) to create a video and add it to Youtube within the next 7 days.
And to encourage us to do so, she has offered gifts to everyone who follows the rules below and has also gifted us all free “how to” videos to help us take action.
So here’s the rules of the challenge. Are you up for it?

The Wonderful Web Video Challenge
1. Create a short and sweet video (it doesn’t have to perfect. It just has to be done!)
2. In the video introduce yourself, tell us what is unique about what you do ( why she should visit your site) and if you have a website, tell us the url. We want this video to help you and your business
2. Upload the video to YouTube
3. When you add in your keywords in the description you MUST put the following keywords: wonderful web women, barefoot executive, mr video
4. Let us know. You can leave a comment here on this blog post with a link to your video, send us a message through twitter @janetbeckers or @barefoot_exec or @askmrvideo

Why Take on The Challenge?
1. Carrie and Mr Video will send you a surprise gift
2. We will all include links to your video in our newsletters / blogs etc
3. It will make you take action. Once you’ve done this the next one will be easier
4. It will be fun

So here is my first video for the challenge

Here is the link to heaps of free video help from Carrie

Oh and by the way – you’ve only got 7 days!!! So get to it.

Cheers

4 Things That Make A Video Viral

There are 4 things you must include when creating a video to make sure it goes viral (contagious like a cold, but in a good way).  If you only have 3 out of 4 you will be wasting your time. These were shared by Carrie Wilkerson who has had incredible success building her business using simple but effective videos. You can get heaps of free tips from Carrie here.

4 Essentials For a Viral Video

1. Your target audience must be able to relate to your video. It needs to trigger their emotions and target their deepest needs. You can see an example at www.thebossmovie.com (This is Carrie’s) and www.52virtues.com (mine which hasn’t really gone viral – any ideas why?)

2. Easy to Find . It needs to be in your newsletter, website, youtube, twitter, facebook etc. Don’t be afraid to mention it over and over. You won’t be nagging because everyone doesn’t listen to everything you say all the time anyway!

3. Easy to View. Make sure your video can be seen in firefox, explorer, safari etc.

4. Easy to share. This doesn’t have to be complicated. Simply tell people what to do. For example simply say “copy this link and paste it in your email to people”. In your emails, tell people to forward the email to a friend. Another good tip is to buy a really easy and short url just for the video so people can just say the name of the video. Hmmm, maybe I need to do that for my 52 Virtues Movie?

Carrie also mentioned a really cool bit of software called Video Opt in Machine. This means you can show a video and straight after the video plays your opt in box comes up. You can even make it so your affiliates can put their links in the video and help grow your business by putting your video on their website. I’ve just bought this now and it looks really good. You also get heaps of unadvertised bonuses when you buy it (and it’s cheap).
