What is PLR?

In the internet marketing world, PLR stands for Private Label Rights. When you buy PLR, you are not only buying the product, you are buying the chance to change it, put your name on it, and use it just about any way you want. Every PLR item comes with terms of service that tell you what you can and can’t do with the PLR so find out these details before you purchase.

PLR can be articles, reports, ebooks, products, software, graphics, and videos. The difference between a ghostwritten article and a PLR article is that the ghostwritten one was written exclusively for you and costs more. A PLR article will cost you less, but you’re not the only one buying it. In exchange for the cheaper price, you’re going to have to do a little work to make yours look different.

Typically, with PLR you are allowed to put yourself as the author, rewrite it, add pictures, add video, add more PLR to it, take stuff out, change the name of it, change the graphics, sell it, give it away, etc.

Why should you use PLR?

The number one reason – someone else did all the time-consuming research. You get to come along and quickly make it your own and start profiting from it in any number of ways.

Add PLR as content to your blogs and your websites. The search engines love fresh new content so you want to feed your sites constantly.

Rewrite and repackage PLR ebooks, software, or videos and sell as your own products. You get to become an instant authority.
You can use PLR as a backend product.
Or add it as a bonus to something else.

What skills do you need with PLR?

PLR is inexpensive because it is sold to more people than just you. That’s not a problem because you will rewrite your PLR to some degree. If you’re not sure how to rewrite PLR, see the resource box below.

I would say you need to do a little research in the beginning to find dependable sources of quality PLR. There are sites requiring a monthly membership fee that give you access to lots of PLR articles, ebooks, info products, etc. There are also sites that don’t require a membership and you can just buy what you want. It’s your choice, but first make sure the PLR is of good quality.

If you’re turning PLR articles into an ebook or making a PLR ebook your own, you need to know how to add pictures, add links, and turn it into a PDF. You should either know how to change the ebook cover or header graphics to show the new title and you as the author, or where to outsource it.

Some PLR products also come with sales pages. Even if the sales page is great, you’ll want to change it to reflect your story. If the sales page is not good, you’ll want to write your own or pay someone else to write it for you.

If you use PLR you will have the opportunity to get your name out there faster and start making money sooner. It doesn’t have to be all or nothing. Many successful marketers create their own ebooks or products and use PLR.
